The Marmaris International Maritime Festival which was held in Marmaris between April 27 and May 2, 2005, was a first in the Turkish maritime history. With all elements which enliven the Turkish maritime strength at the national level, this festival brought together the crew of war/training vessels of 13 countries and the demonstration groups and sportsmen of 18 countries in an atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood in which the sea and maritime cross over the frontiers.
The Festival was not only the first for Turkey but also was regarded as the biggest maritime festival of its own class in the Mediterranean region.
With the demonstrations, panels and races which lasted for six days, the Marmaris International Maritime Festival made powerful marks in the memories of the participants concerning the sea and maritime.
The Second Festival will be held in 2008
Preparations for the second festival which will be held between May 2 and 8, 2008, have already begun. The program of the second festival which has been prepared in a wider content when compared to the first one involves vivid activities. Among these are the activities of tall wooden sailing ships which have many fans in every country.
